OVERVIEW

WAKE is seeking long-term strategic partnerships with organizations that believe in the power of sport and education to transform young girls’ lives. Already WAKE's built two basketball courts at a local and private high school in Conakry; Guinea is complete. Five new outdoor basketball courts with a plan of welcoming kids in September 2022. To ensure the facilities are ready, WAKE is raising $300,000 to finish all sports courts, cover staff, begin developing educational programming, and get supplies in stock for girls’ learning.

WAKE’s longer-term vision is to scale the educational program, bring in an additional 20  students each year, and ultimately house 50-100 girls in dormitory-style residence halls. We intend to host tournaments and other events utilizing our larger facility and consider building technology centers and programs devoted to engineering and STEAM. WAKE will charge each girl’s family a small stipend to attend our program, raise money for scholarships, and start an endowment. One consideration is a ‘pay what you can’ model for operation. WAKE will be hosting basketball camps globally as soon as Summer 2022, with proceeds going directly to our center in Guinea.

PARTNERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

WAKE is interested in partnering as part of our fundraising and awareness-building effort.

Given that our primary goal is to raise $300,000 by August 2024, however, you can give direct support to that effort is ideal. We are open to joint fundraisers, sponsorships, or other ideas you may have.
